This paper examines the significant role of the friendship between Robert Frost and Edward Thomas in shaping the thematic concerns of “poetry of the road,” particularly the exploration of indecision and human choice. Through a detailed analysis of The Road Not Taken, along with biographical and critical perspectives, the paper argues that the poem emerges not as a simple endorsement of individualism but as a complex and ironic meditation on decision-making, regret, and retrospective narrative construction. The study highlights how personal relationships can deeply inform literary creation, transforming lived experience into universal philosophical inquiry.
