Dr. Prof (Col) Sudhir Sachar

Dr. (Col) Sudhir Sachar is a distinguished radiologist with over 45 years of medical experience, including 33 years dedicated to radiodiagnosis. A retired Colonel from the Indian Army, he has been honored with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for his outstanding contributions to radiodiagnosis.

Currently, Dr. Sachar holds the position of Professor & Head of Radiodiagnosis and Dean of Research & Development at Saraswati Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, Unnao. His academic journey is marked by an MBBS and an MD in Radiodiagnosis, complemented by an MD in Hospital Management. He has served in key positions at renowned institutions, including the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, shaping the landscape of radiology education and practice in India.

A pioneer in radiological research, Dr. Sachar is credited with the “Sachar-Sundar Sign,” an ultrasound-based diagnostic feature for Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, published in an internationally indexed journal. His extensive research contributions include over 30 international and 18 national research papers, significantly advancing medical knowledge in the field of imaging.

Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Sachar has played an instrumental role in national medical governance. He has served as a National Expert Member for the Supreme Court-monitored NIMC for the PC & PNDT Act and has been Vice President of the UP Chapter of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA). His leadership extends to chairing multiple medical conferences and guiding policy discussions on medical imaging and healthcare regulations.

Dr. Sachar’s excellence has been recognized through numerous accolades, including the Bhartiya Gyan Ratna Award for Lifetime Achievement in Medical Education, the Golden Aims Award for Excellence in Healthcare, and the Six Sigma Excellence Award for Medical Administration.
